Week 5 Prompt
How do issues such as authorship, copyright and open access impact your desire, ability and willingness to engage in produsage, both personally and professionally?
I do want to give and receive credit where credit is due. I like the concept of produsage very much and am trying to twist part of the concept into my professional life. As I pretty much work in a closed system at work, I have not much fear of people taking my ideas very far. I have had them ‘napped’ before, but I but I still get my paycheck every two weeks and get weekends off so all is copacetic. I think that if I create a tool used in my workplace, for staff to use on work time, my rights are pretty much compromised already. On the flipside, would I borrow someone else’s produsage idea to use? Probably, but I really would give credit and hopefully receive permission before doing so.
On a personal level, I fear produsage may not play a large role at all in my non- working leisure time- do the laundry -walk the dog time. I don’t think authorship, copyright or open access will change that. I took the picture, It is my picture. It is not my park or my tree however.

Blogging on the go Again
Blogging on the go again did not go so well this time. It published in sections, backwards. Below is the well intended version (where are we going and why are we in a handbasket.....)
I have finished my paper. I enjoyed writing it, hope it reflects the attitude I would like. I was ruminating today about the on demand world of Web 2.0 today, as children log onto Sesame Street and join clubs online such as Club Penguin. These are very young children, ages two and five respectively, who truly are being raised 2.0 and beyond anything I can predict will happen in their world, digitally.

This week went by really fast. I have done some work on the discussion boards and have given some commentary to a few classmates’ blogs as well.
I worked on my community paper and have almost got that project completed. This summer class has flown by! I really want to attend the synchronous meeting and am looking forward to working through the process.

OOH I have grades!!!
So far I have loved the freedom offered in this class, and the opportunities to explore.
I like reading other peoples ideas and thoughts from both blogs and DB's ( I subscribe to the DB's, so it's a billion gazillion emails, so what. I have folders to plunk them in when I am through perusing them.
I reaquaimted myself with an old friend and resource, Steve, found at http://tagger.steve.museum/ that taught me what tagging was. I also considered why I tag my vacation photos, thanks to a DB discussion question.
I have accounts at Flickr, Picassa, Photobucket and YouTube. I have used my quota and then some at several sites, and now post of my photos on Facebook, as it is pretty limitless so far. The purpose of the photos are to share with family and friends, and they share with me. Much faster than the family photo album.
So there is a lot of Web 2.0 in almost everyone's life and almost everyone uses some sort of digital media in their life. How to expand on these tools and introduce them further as educational resources is my goal for right now.

Week Three Response
Week 3
In my work environment I could see several different uses for a wiki or even a blog. The first use I could envision would be a question and answer board that employees could post to and receive responses fairly quickly that could be seen effectively by lots of employees at the same time. The responses would not have to be the domain of a single SME, but could be communally policed(?)by several SME's that are located in different parts of the region(From Pensacola, Fl to Monticello, Fl).
This would support learning by sharing the same answers with staff instead of answering each question individually, and possibly having different answers disseminated for the same question. This would also reinforce their knowledge of their jobs, policies and procedures.
The second one could be aimed at new employees who go through training and would allow them to remain connected to each other as they are disbursed to service sites. This would allow them a sense of community that they developed in the classroom, a safety net or security blanket approach that will reinforce what they have learned both in the classroom and on the job.
The challenges of applying this at my workplace are the effective closed intranet that we use and gaining permission to use space on the intranet to do so. Outside usage of the internet is restricted to breaks/lunch times, and staff may not wish to use break time to work on the job blogging or wiki posts. So administrative issues and infrastructure policies may collide in this effort.

Tweet Stuff
To be fair I have a delightful friend who Tweets regarding her Holistic Living for Seniors endeavors. I decided to give Twitter another chance to capture my heart and now have started following Clay Shirky and Dr. Dennen, so maybe I will remember to Tweet or check tweets etc.
I always felt like no one needed to know what I was doing, and celebrity Tweets do not interest me much. It seemed like one more thing I had to navigate in, and to learn the rules to use in any fashion.
I do confess liking this article though, recommended by Mr. Shirky:
How-to: Effectively manage your Facebook privacy settings with three simple lists
http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/13/how-to-effectively-manage-your-facebook-privacy-settings-with-l/Oh and just for fun I hooked up with Bill Gates's Twitter following. Might as well live large. Tweets forever!!

Week 2 Round Up Report
My participation during Week 2:
I pondered the Web 2.0 universe.
I re upped my membership in Twitter and then remembered why I didn't use it much before.
I joined Nutshell Mail and Voice-thread,http://voicethread.com/share/409/ ,
found on my classmates' blogs. Thanks. I will probably end my relationship with Nutshell, and play with Voicethread some more.
I volunteered to attend a synchronous meeting/conference using DimDim from Wade's Blog. I have used Adobe Presenter, Elluminate and Blackboard in the past.
I joined a Disney Vacation Discussion Board/blog site for our upcoming Web 2.0 Community Observations assignment. I already have an official Disney group hooked to my Facebook account. Maybe I should have gone with some educational choices but I am a Florida resident after all.
Made a few responses to classmates blogs.
Posted four DB entries concerning the hive, produsage and free riders.

Topic of Produsage for Week 2
Topic of Produsage for Week 2
I have to say I am already somewhat of a produser on the job, as I index a lot of the training topics for ready retrieval by staff who may need them. I also produce some of the trainings and go find them when folks request a topic for training. The document I use is a published excel document that resembles both a referatory and an index of public assistance topics that is sorted by date, topic, url and key word or tags. I also have fellow trainers that contribute items to the index and of course fellow employees who have a need to know.

Week 2 It's Monday
Celebratory thoughts inserted here.
I have to work up to something important to say, just trying to be comfortable in continuing with the habit of writing in a blog. I do know that blogs exist for many different reasons (political, educational, business related etc) and that keeping a record of class activities will be useful.( I hope)
Today I have read some DB posts from last night, reviewed the new topics and commented lightly on a classmate's blog entry.

eureka!! I can edit!!
Ending the Week
- I have enjoyed reading Shirky and the articles for week 1.
- I have started to understand how to change my blog's look and texture.
- I have tied it to my texting function on my iPhone, and have yet how to figure out how to edit my typos out of the posts once published.
- Of course I have had to resist the urge to post photos all over the place.
- I have enjoyed the conversations regarding the definition, meaning and future of Web 2.0 on the DB.
- Looking forward to the upcoming weeks, better go check the syllabus again.
